Fellowship Description

viralnet.net :: Research Fellow

The purpose of the viralnet.net fellowship is to provide artists with the opportunity and resources to research future possibilities for their work and to post their research findings as a public document and an educational resource for the Center for Integrated Media students at CalArts.

Each year a  selection of artists and curators make up an advisory panel to viralnet.net. This panel submits a list of suggested fellows to a final selection committee. The selection committee then awards the fellowship for the upcoming year to an emerging or mid-career artist based on the quality of work and the social significance of their overall practice .  The selected fellow then curates a selection of  writers, artists and theorists to respond to their research and to expand upon the themes that arise from their work during the year.  On conclusion of the fellowship, the artist is invited to the Center for Integrated Media at CalArts to give a presentation of their research to the students.
